MES / ERP Connection

ERP systems are transactional, plant floor control systems operate in real-time.  ERP systems are excellent at the long range planning and routine business functions - not so good on the factory floor operating in real time.

Integration of ERP with MES

Manufacturing Executives who need a solution to manage the operation effectively look to integrate ERP and MES functions and this is where Ascari have experience across a wide variety of MES and ERP systems including:

ISA 95

Typically ERP handles the higher-order business functions (planning, purchasing, inventory, sales) and MES handles the lower order detail that the ERP typically cannot handle.  Coupling ERP with MES provides a powerful enabler for managing the business at a high level whilst allowing tools within the MES to facilitate areas like continuous process improvement, detailed traceability, cycle time reduction and yield improvement.

The Four Levels of ISA-95

The diagram below illustrates the four levels within the ISA-95 model, a standard for the effective integration of these two types of systems.

Our ERP/MES integration portfolio uses standards like ISA-95 and B2MML ensuring that where possible, the integration is built on best practice and efficient processes.  Although not good practice, but to illustrate our capability we could connect a production tool at Level 1+2 into your ERP at Level 4.
